What Kind Of Dogs Would The Punch-Out!! Boxers Be?
A tiny rule I've set for myself is that I tried to refrain from picking dog breeds that had countries in their names (with somewhat of an exception for Don and Macho), it's why I didn't pick ones like German Shepherd and stuff like that.
(Keep Reading added because of possible length of post)
If you think any of these choices are shit or you wanna suggest any dog breeds please let me know Glass Joe: Labradoodle
Von Kaiser: Schnauzer
Disco Kid: Coonhound or Catahoula Leopard Dog
King Hippo: legitimately can't think of or find any i need suggestions
Piston Hondo Chihuahua Akita
Bear Hugger: Newfoundland
Great Tiger: Borzoi or Caravan Guard Dog
Don Flamenco: Burgalese, Burgos pointer
Aran Ryan: Okay THIS guy's the Chihuahua Kerry Beagle
Soda Popinski: Chortai or Caucasian Shepherd Dog
Bald Bull: Bulldog (It's literally in the name) or Rize Koyun Dog
Super Macho Man: Staffordshire Terrier
Mr. Sandman: Plott Hound
((And no I might not do Super Punch Out because I'm not as hyperfixated on it as the Wii version))

Ronald Anthony Burgos-Aviles, Texas inmate 02456398, born 1989, incarceration intake July 2023 at age 33, sentenced to life
Capital Murder
Relatives of Grizelda Hernandez and little Dominic Alexander Hernandez burst into tears upon hearing the sentence of life in prison without parole awarded by the jury in the double murder trial of Supervisory Border Patrol Agent Ronald Anthony Burgos-Aviles on Monday in the 49th Court before Judge Joe Lopez.
In July 2023, relatives of Grizelda Hernandez and little Dominic Alexander Hernandez burst into tears upon hearing the sentence of life in prison without parole awarded by the jury in the double murder trial of Supervisory Border Patrol Agent Ronald Anthony Burgos-Aviles in the 49th Court before Judge Joe Lopez.
Lopez then read the two capital murder charges and the result for each one was term of life without possibility of parole.
"Your sentence will start immediately," Judge Lopez said.
The trial for this case began on June 26, five years after the murders were committed.
More than 20 witnesses including relatives, friends, law enforcement agents and forensic experts were called to testify on behalf of the prosecution.
The testimonies revealed the alleged presence of Burgos-Aviles at Father McNaboe Park the day and time the double homicide was committed, his participation in reporting the crime, the lack of care in preserving the crime scene, and a DNA study that proved him to be the biological father of little Dominic, among other information that will help the jury determine the defendant's innocence or guilt.
The District Attorney said that Burgos-Avilés took advantage of his skills and his training as a law enforcement agent to carry out the perfect crime in a brushy area.

ₓ˚. ୭ ˚○◦˚.I HAVE BEEN SUMMONEDₓ˚. ୭ ˚○◦˚.
I'm an Iowa transplant who's been living here 13 years. I think the point of this post is to shock and gross you out, which is massively disappointing, because none of this food is what you're thinking it is and it SLAPS. Sour Cream and Raisin Pie -some sour cream is added to custard to make it creamier and a little tangy, along with a bit of cinnamon and cloves -the white stuff is meringue. not sour cream. -raisins are polarizing, but i fuck with raisins 7/10, never heard of this pie before, but would like someone's grandma to make me one

Iowa Ham Ball -meatballs made with 1/2 ham and 1/2 beef -sauce made of brown sugar, tomato, white vinegar, and mustard, it's sort of like a sweet, simple BBQ sauce -served in a crockpot at potlucks to keep them warm and eaten with a lil' toothpick
7/10, I always put them on my plate at potlucks

Scotcharoos -if you believe bread, celery, and bananas are just vessels to deliver peanut butter to your mouth, this dessert was made for you -dense and rich peanut butter bars with a lil' chocolate on top -light crunch from the rice krispies = chefs kiss 11/10, will someone's mom make these for me please?

Maid Rite™ -tender and moist seasoned beef, not dry -I honestly just think of these as a type of sloppy joe (don't tell other Iowans I said that) -typically served with onion, mustard, and pickles (yum) 6/10, because my brain thinks "I rather eat a burger", but this is a nostalgic comfort food a for a lot of people. When the school I work at has these for lunch, most of the staff will eat school lunch that day.

Steak de Burgo -idk it's a tenderloin steak with a special herbed butter sauce -essentially a classic dish, but this recipe was apparently invented in Des Moines, IA -did you know David Byrne loves Des Moines? 8/10, medium rare please

Taco Pizza (didn't link a recipe, because it will never taste the same as ordering one from Taco John's, Casey's, or Wig & Pen) -beef cooked on the pizza. Lettuce, tomato, onion, and tortilla or off-brand Dorito chips added on after it comes out of the oven. Sour cream and taco sauce on the side. -some have a bean base, some just do red sauce -anyone who grew up here and moved away would likely pay you a great sum of money if you could teleport them one of these right now 12/10, would eat one right now

Snickers Salad -If you grew up with marshmallow salads-type dishes at potlucks, you either have a love or hate relationship with them -Snickers and green apple = match made in heaven -base is cool whip and pudding mixed together
6/10, definitely putting a lil' scoop on my plate when I see it at a function Corn -Iowa exports more soybeans and pork than corn, but is still known for corn because it is the best corn. -when people in other states say they got "the best sweet corn they've every had" from the grocery store/farmers market, they have no idea what they're talking about -i am here to slander every other state's sweet corn 14/10, cannot wait until sweet corn season

this is so scary

México, rezagado en derechos humanos | EU

WASHINGTON * Abril 22, 2024. ) facebook.com/acapress.mx ) facebook.com/angelblanco.press ) facebook.com/groups/mexicosur.news ) facebook.com/groups/AcapulcoNoticias ) acapulcopress.com Read the full article

Rondo Hatton schemes to make life difficult for the Iron Skull in Amazing-Man Comics #16 (October, 1940).
And compared to the Iron Skull, Rondo was Adonis.
This is the Iron Skull:
He was created by Carl Burgos, who also created an obscure character named the Human Torch for Timely Comics.
The Iron Skull initially did not have an origin story when he first appeared in the very first issue of Amazing-Man Comics (which, oddly, was numbered 5; there were no issues #1-4). He just showed up at the scene of a crime and started mopping up crooks left and right.
Later it was revealed that the Skull was a soldier gravely injured during World War ll, which was interesting because America had not entered the war at the time the story was written. The soldier's damaged flesh and bones were replaced with metal by a kindly doctor, making the soldier super-strong and bullet-proof. Oddly though, the doctor gave the new cyborg animé cat eyes, and completely forgot to give him a nose.
Don't believe me? Here's the Iron Skull's full origin from Amazing-Man Comics #7 (November, 1939).
Written and drawn by Carl Burgos.
Yeah, that's all the explanation anyone every got as to who he is and how he came to be.
The series took place in the future of the 1960s, when the war - some of which had been fought in America - finally came to an end. The country was rebuilding itself, but crime became rampant, which is why the Ron Skull - so-called because of his noseless appearance - became a crime fighter.
By Amazing-Man Comics #11 the series had jumped ahead to the early 1970s. War broke out in Europe again, and an unnamed nation was instigating terrorist attacks in the States. The Iron Skull now concentrated his efforts on tackling the spies and saboteurs trying to bring America down.
The Iron Skull skipped issues #12 & 13 of Amazing-Man Comics. He was back with issue #14, but gone was Carl Burgos, replaced by Sam Gilman. Also gone was the futuristic setting and any reference to the events of the previous stories. The Iron Skull moved to New York City where, somehow, in the very next issue he could mentally communicate with the District Attorney.
From Amazing-Man Comics #16. Story and art by Sam Gilman.
The Iron Skull continued to smash crime and war saboteurs in now contemporary, pre-War New York until his strip ended in issue #22. He then moved over to Star and Stripes #2 (May, 1941), along with most of other characters from Amazing-Man Comics, which was cancelled after issue #26.
Things progressed quickly for the Skull in his new book. In issue #3 he got a costume, albeit a simple pair of swim trunks. In issue #4 he inexplicably gained the ability to fly. And in issue #5 he became completely bald. However, as compensation the Iron Skull got his true superhero costume (although he just looks like an employee at your local S&M dungeon):

Yes, that's a skull and crossbones tattooed on his chest. Because apparently he just spends his whole day dressed like that, and only dons the cape when he's going into action.
See? I told ya!
Sadly, the Iron Skull didn't get to enjoy the costume for very long. Star and Stripes #6 was the last issue because Centaur Publications went out of business the next month.
The DC hero Steel, not John Henry Irons but the World War ll superhero who later became Commander Steel, has a similar origin.
When I first read Steel #1 back in 1978 I thought he was just a WWll-version of The Six Million Dollar Man, with his body being rebuilt with the 1940s equivalent of bionics. But now that I've delved into the Iron Skull and his one panel origin, I would say Steel is much more similar to him than Steve Austin (whether or not Steel creator Gerry Conway intended that).
Steel did not, however, develop telepathy or the ability to fly. Nor did he, thankfully, decide to run around in leather boy shorts.

BHOC: FANTASY MASTERPIECES #7
BHOC: FANTASY MASTERPIECES #7

Continuing on with comics I bought during my first trip to Bush’s Hobbies in Ronkonkoma. I was a huge fan of the Golden Age of Comics and the histories of the assorted characters that I was following–I wanted to know everything, to read everything. In particular, it had been the original Human Torch who provided my entry into the Marvel Universe. So when I came across this issue reprinting…

Day 25 - El Burgos Ranero to Mansilla de las Mulas
About a 12 mile day according to the book.
Both of us had a really ropey night last night, the earth certainly moved but not in the right way. The woman above me in the bunk seemed to shift about all night, and the rocking was compounded by the man above Jane. He was up quite a few times and as the bunks were so close together would steady himself on mine while getting down.
We were awake before half 6, packed up then had breakfast at the place we had lunch the previous day before getting on the road about 20 to 8.
I don’t think El Burgo Ranero is a place to revisit and we did our best to take our usual early morning photo. They had covered the trees on the path with crochet granny squares which was pretty.

The road was again very straight, very flat, and very long following the side of a quiet road. There were no towns for about 8 miles so it was just a question of plodding on and nattering about daft things.

After a while we came to a dip in the road that had been forested and in the woods were some cows (excitement of the day!). There was also an amusing sign about people not going to the loo in the woods and leaving their mess behind.

About half way we stopped at a picnic area and lay on the benches in the sunshine for a good half hour, finishing off Jane’s chocolate bar and chilling which was very pleasant.

After the rest it was time to break out our headphones and get the music on. Whilst the walking the last couple of days has been boring it has been nice to properly listen to music.
Our coffee stop finally came into view where we made the acquaintance of two Irish guys, Barry and Shane, and had a chat. It turned out later that they also knew Nicole (who caught us up today). It’s like a spiderweb of friendships.
We ploughed on through the last 4 or so miles, and I managed to get a bit of video of Jane dancing to whatever was on her headphones!
The hostel where we are staying is first rate. It’s very modern with a lovely garden and proper restaurant. We had a menu del dia at lunchtime again, then caught up with a gang of friends who had recently arrived.
We chilled, I had a shower then a wander around the village, then Jane had a wander.

When I got back there was a gang having a chat in the garden and when Jane got back we had a group photo. We realised that most of our pics are of the landscape and not of people. So, left to right we have Jane (of course), Ashley (US), Betty (Belgium), Otto I think?, two people from Costa Rica that we met tonight, Nicole (Australia), Laura (Germany), Joe & Charles (US).

Jane and I didn’t want much for tea so had a bocadillo (baguette) with ham and cheese. We sat with the youngsters whilst the others had a proper meal. The young ones all want to go partying tomorrow in Leon, and whilst the bar culture is tremendous I can’t remember any clubs.
So Jane and I are back in the dorm ready for bed. The bunks are more solid tonight so fingers crossed it’ll be a better night’s sleep.

movies I have watched thanks to a human rights org, January 2023
full length:

Portraits of Mosquito Press (2015)
Joe Burgos's life as a targeted journalist in the first Marcos regime is detailed by one of his sons in photographs and interviews with journalists who worked with Joe from the newspapers We Forum and Malaya. Another one of his sons was abducted as a political prisoner, still unsurfaced as of today.

Sol Searching (2018)
Sol Dolores, a strict grade school teacher, suddenly dies, with hardly anyone willing to let her casket stay a night thanks to having no funds. Her best friend Lorelei Baloloy and favorite student Bugoy have to carry her casket for miles just to properly mourn and bury her.
•
short films:

Life on Moon (2022)
School and work at home strain the relationship of a mother and her depressed son.
Dandansoy (2021)
Based on a folk song of the same title, a teenage gamer in Antique feels the need to help out a lonely elderly woman embark on a journey to a mystical river to end her life.

Excuse Me, Miss, Miss, Miss (2019)
A saleslady is on the verge of losing her job when she finds that her cruel, seemingly tireless boss is keeping a secret. Or two. Or three.
